As superb as our properties are, our greatest asset is our staff of caring, personable professionals. While our staff members each have their own areas of expertise and roles, they are not strictly defined by job titles. As members of the WHAL Properties team, they share pride and enjoyment in taking good care of our tenants and contributing however they can to a welcoming office environment.

Aileen Leong aileen.l@whalprop.com

Aileen Leong is our in-house tax manager and has been preparing income tax returns for more than 14 years. She specializes in partnerships, s-corporations, individuals, and trusts. Aileen handles all of WHAL Properties’ federal and multi-state tax compliance as well as tax compliance for WHAL’s owners and affiliated companies. She has enjoyed working for the Anderson family since 2004. She graduated with her bachelor’s degree in accounting from CSU Sacramento and is also licensed as an enrolled agent with the Internal Revenue Service. In her spare time, Aileen enjoys binge watching shows on Netflix, and has a very unhealthy love for bacon.

Bridget Sanders bridget.s@whalprop.com

Bridget Sanders is the chief financial officer for WHAL Properties, LP, and performs financial oversight for other family-owned entities. She is a certified public accountant with more than 20 years of experience in public accounting, corporate finance, forensic accounting and financial consulting. Bridget also holds additional credentials in forensic accounting and business valuation. She serves on the board of the Sacramento Chapter of the California Society of CPAs. Bridget enjoys lounging on the deck of her home overlooking Folsom Lake with her family. She is an avid college football fan, and enjoys hosting local alumni to watch her Penn State Nittany Lions in action.

Cathy Aronson

Cathy Aronson is both an owner and manager of WHAL GP, the general partner of WHAL Properties, LP. She also performs executive oversight for other family-owned entities. Cathy has owned various business ventures, primarily in ranching and agriculture. She also is an owner in Pacific Coast Building Products, the family business that her father, Fred Anderson, founded, and is a board member of the Capital Region Family Business Center. When not advocating for the family businesses, Cathy enjoys spending time with her family and traveling the Pacific Northwest with her husband, Mike, in their motor home.

Erika B. List is the accounts payable and accounts receivable administrator for WHAL Properties, LP. She received her B.S. in business administration from California State University, Sacramento, where she graduated cum laude in 2014. Erika obtained her California notary public commission in 2014 and her California real estate sales license in 2015. In her spare time Erika enjoys crafting and reading.

Jim Anderson

Jim Anderson is both an owner and manager of WHAL GP, the general partner of WHAL Properties, LP. He also assists in overseeing other family-owned entities. Jim is an investor in other ventures, with a focus on businesses in the entertainment industry. He served as an important member of the sales team, assisted in building the family business, Pacific Coast Building Products, for many years, and remains active in the company as a longtime board member. Jim enjoys spending time at his farm on the American River and is on a quest to travel by motor home around the country with wife, Jackie, to soak in the beauty of our state and national parks. He holds a black belt in karate.

Kelli Ponder kelli.p@whalprop.com

Kelli Ponder is vice president of WHAL Properties, LP, responsible for overseeing and managing the company’s office properties. She has two decades of experience in management and development of all types of commercial real estate, including office, industrial, retail and medical office facilities. Over the course of Kelli’s career, she has overseen tenant relations, vendor contract administration, lease administration, tenant improvements, budgeting, common area maintenance reconciliations, and financial reporting. She takes pride in exceeding the expectations of clients. Kelli holds a California real estate license and is an active participant in the Building Owners & Managers Association of Sacramento and the Central Valley (BOMA Sacramento). Kelli lives in Sacramento with her husband and two children.

Laurie King laurie.k@whalprop.com

Laurie King is a senior accountant for WHAL Properties, LP, and also performs accounting services for other family-owned entities. Laurie has extensive experience in the accounting field spanning more than two decades, working primarily for land and residential home developers. Her functions include accounting support for daily operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll. She has also been responsible for financial reporting for multiple business units. A native Midwesterner, Laurie enjoys our beautiful California weather by taking long hikes with her two sons. Her goal is to travel over the next few years.

Michael Votaw michael.v@whalprop.com

Michael Votaw is the senior vice president of WHAL Properties, LP, in charge of overseeing the family’s real estate portfolio. He is directly involved in day-to-day operations, asset and facilities management, financial planning and growth of the portfolio. Michael began his career in 2003 working for the family business, Pacific Supply, in which he rose to supply chain manager before taking on his role at WHAL Properties. He holds a California real estate license. Michael enjoys spending time with his wife and four daughters, and is a water sports enthusiast.
